Public events are listed in the calendar. Most but not all events take place in Germersheim during the teaching period (mid-April to mid-July and mid-October to mid-February).
MALVA organizes different types of events:
- one-off events such as conferences
- The weekly colloquium on Mondays from 4.50 to 6.20 pm CET, jointly with the Russian section at FTSK. Students presenting their BA and MA theses alternate with guest speakers at different career stages who present their work in progress and discuss research methods, in a variety of languages. Guest lectures are usually streamed.
- Inside Diversity: Faces and Perspectives of Multiethnic Ukraine, a weekly online Ukrainian-language seminar organized and hosted by Mykola Homanyuk on Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm CET. Every session presents one of Ukraine’s ethnic minorities through a short film, an overview of scholarly research, and a conversation with a member of the community being discussed.
- A research seminar where outside guests present work related to MALVA’s research areas and projects (Thursdays from 1.30 pm to 3 pm CET, alternating with the Contested Memory | Confronting Memories seminar)
- The Contested Memory | Confronting Memories seminar, organized by Oleg Reut since November 2024, which usually takes place in a hybrid online/offline format in English or Russian (Thursdays from 1.30 pm to 3 pm CET, alternating with the research seminar)
- The Tuesday Think Tank (Tuesdays from 1.30 pm to 3 pm), a weekly internal work-in-progress seminar
Also note the rich program of events organized by the Russian section at our department in Germersheim. For upcoming public talks by Mischa Gabowitsch, see the calendar on his personal website.
